Sheep Moth + Trinket Box

A moth painted on the glass lid of a heart-shaped hinged box featuring fluted sides, textured bottom, and beaded details; clear glass + black finish

Please note: the box is seemingly handmade (?) and perfectly imperfect (♡) some of the metal edges are a bit sharp in places and some care should be taken when placing/removing items to avoid injury; there is a small amount of adhesive residue on the bottom

Approximate dimensions: 4 by 4 ¼ by 2 ½ inches tall (interior 3 ½ by 3 ⅜ by 2 inches tall)

✷ The trinket boxes sourced for these art objects have some wear and imperfections that are typical of vintage/secondhand items and add to the overall character of the piece. Any flaws that I consider potentially more bothersome are shown in greater detail.

Artist Statement:

The impression my moth and butterfly paintings are meant to give is that a real creature happened to see a frame sitting "empty" and decided to land there. Part of the story they tell is in this illusion of a fleeting moment that has been frozen and can be held...

These are another iteration of this same idea; instead of living within a frame on your wall, each creature looks as though it has landed on top of a trinket box, a tiny guardian for your tiny treasures.
